Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, JAN. 25. To ensure free flow of traffic on the main thoroughfares, the Pondicherry police are planning to stop two-way movement of vehicles on select routes within the town limits. The system will come into effect from Thursday. A release from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sunil Garg, said today that vehicular movement would be permitted from West to East on the Lal Bahadhur Sastri street (popularly known as Bussy Street) between the Sinna Subbaraya Pillai Street junction and H.M. Cassime Salai (Ambour Salai). No vehicles (except two-wheelers, autorickshaws, tempos, police and fire service vehicles and ambulances) would be permitted to ply from east to west on this stretch. Buses and other heavy vehicles should therefore operate through Subbiah Salai (railway station road) from east to west.
