CHITRADURGA, JAN. 25. Kadre Gowda, Deputy Director of Horticulture, has asked the farmers to take a few precautions against the hailstorm predicted by the Meteorological Department. He said that the hailstorm, likely to occur in February, may affect the crops and urged farmers to take steps to prevent crop damage. In an official release, he suggested that the farmers cover banana bunches with plantain leaves to protect the fruit. He also said that the onion crop could be covered with plastic sheets for protection from hailstones. He advised the farmers not to listen to or spread rumours and cause panic. He asked them to seek help from the officers of the department, if needed, to protect their crops.
