HYDERABAD, JAN. 25. The Director-General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, has promised security for the family of R.P. Meena, Inspector General of Police, Rayalaseema, in the wake of apprehensions expressed by him following the gunning down of Paritala Ravi. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Sen gave a clean chit to Mr. Meena as far as his handling of factionalism in Rayalaseema was concerned. "You cannot find fault with him. He is absolutely genuine and will not take a wrong step even against an enemy," he remarked. The DGP regretted the targeting of Mr. Meena by some people with baseless and unfounded allegations. Meanwhile, it is learnt that Mr. Sen did not take kindly to the remarks of Mr. Meena that his colleague IPS officers were spreading rumours about him out of professional jealousy. The DGP was credited with the view that responsible senior police officers should not have such feelings. He did not want any one of them to feel insecure or that others were scuttling their interests. He would ensure that they were confident. In any case, he would enquire with Mr. Meena in the matter.
