Tirupati
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUPATI, JAN. 25. The APSRTC Tirupati region provided a safe passage to pilgrims who were stranded here after their Tirumala trip on Monday night. The killing of the Penugonda MLA, Paritala Ravindra, leading to a spurt in violence across the state, including the temple town, and the consequent withdrawal bus services after many of them were damaged by irate mobs, the pilgrims were left with no option but to spend the night at the central bus station with their families or go in search of lodges. To prevent any exploitation of passengers, the RTC authorities arranged special services to various destinations by night. "Not only were the commuters given concession in fare, but were also provided food and water at a subsidised rate at our canteen,'' S. Dharma Reddy, the RTC Regional Manager told mediapersons on Tuesday.
