A novel school for actors

MUMBAI, JAN. 25. Renowned film actor and theatre personality Anupam Kher is all set to launch his prized project `Actor Prepares', a national-level training school for talented and deserving individuals, who wish to pursue careers as actor-performers in the entertainment industry.

Set up in Mumbai, the acting school to be launched on February 2 will offer a three months' intensive course, providing in-depth training and specialization within the acting field.

Speaking of his dream project, Mr. Kher said: ``Being a media professional for over 20 years, I have always felt that the industry has not addressed the need for creating new educational centres which could regularly provide a pool of well trained professionals; thus creating a huge gap between supply and demand in the effective functioning of the largest entertainment industry in the world." With only a handful of agencies funded by the government and a few independent organizers meeting a part of this demand of trained professionals, `Actor Prepares' hopes to fill this gap and meet the need, he said. The school had roped in qualified teachers to impart an extensive training programme to students, employing the most modern methods, insights and technical tool available.

Seasoned personalities from the field of theatre, television and films from across the world will be visiting as part of the guest faculty. The task will be to scout, identify, select and train individuals and help them achieve excellence in the creative art and total mastery of the technical craft, he added.
