Judicial custody extended for Raghu, 8 others

KANCHEEPURAM,
JAN. 25.
The Kancheepuram judicial magistrate-I, G. Uthamaraj, today extended up to February 3, judicial custody for nine persons, including R. Raghu, brother of the junior Kanchi Acharya, arrested in connection with the Sankararaman murder case.
The remand prisoners - Raghu, `Mattu' Basker, Stalin, `kuruvi' Ravi, Palani, Sekar, Sundaram, Kumar and Anandkumar - who were brought to the court from the Chennai Central Prison, requested the Magistrate to allow them to speak for a few minutes to their relatives and friends, who had come down to Kancheepuram. The court acceded to the plea. Mr. Uthamaraj also permitted Raghu to hand over to counsel Revathi a copy of the charge sheet served on him under the Goondas Act.
