YSR happy with response to `nagara baata'

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 25. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday expressed total satisfaction over response to his Rajiv Nagara Baata programme at Gajuwaka and Anakapalle.

Dr. Reddy, who advanced his departure by a helicopter for Hyderabad by 15 minutes, said that during the whirlwind tour to Visakhapatnam, he received hundreds of petitions. Follow-up action would be taken on merit basis.

Tight security arrangement was made at the Port Stadium from where he flew and at the Circuit House, where he stayed for the night, due to the killing of the Telugu Desam party MLA, Paritala Ravindra. Officials, political leaders and others were allowed inside the stadium only after thorough frisking.

The Chief Minister avoided queries on the law and order situation and shot back: "How many times shall I speak?''

The Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna, the local Congress leaders, the District Collector, Praveen Prakash, and the Commissioner of Police, V.S. Kaumidi, were present.
