`Set up State-level panel'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JAN. 25. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, G.K. Vasan, today urged the State Government to set up a State-level committee to coordinate work of district-level monitoring committees set up by the Government for relief work in the tsunami-affected areas.

In a statement here, Mr. Vasan suggested that the State-level committee interact with district-level panels frequently to review the progress of the work.

This, he said, would avoid malpractices. If necessary, the coordination committee might consist of the legislature leaders of political parties.
