Blood donors' directory

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 25. The Leader of the Opposition of Maharashtra, Narayan Rane, inaugurated the Cooperative Blood Donation Scheme being implemented by the State unit of the Shiva Sena at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram today. He released the first volume of blood donors' directory containing details of one lakh donors and their blood groups and distributed identity cards to prominent donors in the directory.

Birth anniversary

Historian K.N. Panikker inaugurated the 126th birth anniversary of Mahakavi Pandalam Kerala Varma here today. Dr. Panikker distributed the awards instituted by the Mahakavi Pandalam Kerala Varma Memorial Committee. While poet K. Sachidanandan received the poetry award for his collection of poems titled `Vicku', the media award was received by journalist S. Krishnankutty on behalf of the Mathrubhumi daily for an editorial on self- reliant colleges.

Sub-station inauguration

The new, 66 KV, sub-station of the KSEB at Vattiyoorkavu will be inaugurated by the Minister for Electricity, Aryadan Mohammed, on January 27.
