THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 25. As many as 11 vehicles that were operating parallel services were seized in a joint drive carried out by the Motor Vehicles Department and the police in Neyyattinkara taluk today. With this, the number of vehicles seized in the drive that commenced on January 19 against the parallel services in the district has gone up to 65. The department has received a sum of Rs. 2 lakhs as fine from those found indulging in operating the illegal services, according to the Deputy Transport Commissioner, South Zone, V. Ravindran Nair. The drive was organised in the Neyyattinkara-Parassala-Kaliyikkavila sector. The KSRTC has decided to initiate stern action against two drivers who did not stop the buses in the stop at Parassala and Karakkamandapam despite the presence of the KSRTC senior officials.
