Vijayawada
By Our Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 25. The Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninst (CPI-ML) and the CPI-ML (Red Flag) called for the unity of all revolutionary communist groups to establish a new economic order, but spared no efforts to lambast the CPI-ML (Maoist) naxalites, the CPI(M) and the CPI for "deviating" from their original ideology. The veteran CPI-ML general secretary, Kanu Sanyal, and the CPI-ML (Red Flag) general secretary, K.N.Ramachandran, at a "Meet the press" programme here on Tuesday accused the naxalites of straying from the Maoist philosophy and turning into "terrorists and revisionist forces."
People terrorised
"The Maoist naxalites are a bunch of terrorist elements who have totally deviated from the original philosophy. They have emerged as a mere guerrilla force of desperate groups," Mr.Sanyal, one of the founder members of the naxal movement said in response to queries. He said the annihilation of class enemies theory propounded by Mao was based on the armed struggle by people for a just, economic and egalitarian society, wheareas, the naxalites had formed into small individual groups and terrorised people in the name of class struggle by waging guerrilla warfare, he said. Mr. Sanyal minced no words in criticising the CPI(M) and the CPI for their "anti-proletariat" policies. He said both the parties, which were running the Left Front Governments in West Bengal, Tripura and Kerala had failed to do any justice for the cause of the working class. The two revolutionary leaders felt that there wasn't much difference in the policies initiated by the Congress, BJP and the ruling Left parties in the country. They felt that all these parties had taken up various reforms with the objective of helping the capitalist and imperialistic forces. "The Buddadev Bhattacharya Government in West Bengal has brought about several reforms to benefit the capitalist and imperialistic forces," Mr. Ramachandran alleged. Similarly, the two leaders alleged that even China had deviated from the communist ideology and thrown open its economy to the capitalist and imperialistic forces. Mr. Sanyal said that the communist revolutionary parties would strive for bringing in a classless society through an armed struggle of the people. "We will achieve the objective through both legal and illegal means," he said.
Decision on merger
He said the six-day All India Communist Unity Conference being held in Vijayawada from January 27 to February 1 would strive for evolving a unity of like-minded revolutionary groups like CPI-ML, CPI-ML (Red Flag), CPI-ML (Unity Initiative) and CPI-ML (Unity). A decision on the merger of the four parties was also expected to be taken up during the conference, which would be attended by 300 delegates from nine States.
