Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius and minimum of 20.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity, which was recorded at 85 per cent in the morning, fell to 65 per cent in the evening.

Selected for

RD parade

K.V.K. James, an NCC cadet from SRR & CVR Government College, has been selected to participate in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi. Mr. James has also been selected for the NCC Youth Exchange Programme - 2005.

Under the programme he will visit one of the Commonwealth Countries.

Another cadet from the college NCC unit (91/17 NCC COY Infantry) has been selected to participate in the Andhra Pradesh State Republic Day Parade at Secunderabad.

MRPS to suspend stir

The city unit of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti in a statement said that its agitation for an ordinance to classify reservations for the Scheduled Castes would be suspended temporarily in the wake of developments in the State.

The organisation demanded that the Government not hold examinations for Group I, II and teachers recruit until the Central Government clarified on the issue. The relay hunger strike launched on January 20 to press for their demands has been also called off, according to a press release.
