KOLKATA, JAN. 26. The adjourned 75th annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be held here on Thursday to enable the new set of office-bearers and other sub-committees to take charge following a Supreme Court directive to this effect. The AGM, which was held here on September 29 and 30, was adjourned following court cases in Chennai. Later the matter went up to the Supreme Court which directed the Board to reconvene the AGM without deciding on the issue of confirming the appointment of Jagmohan Dalmiya as the patron-in-chief as decided by a special general meeting, also held in Chennai.
Ganguly hopes Tendulkar is fit
In Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly's scheme of things batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has always figured prominently. With the Test series against Pakistan slated to be held in early March, it is only natural that he hopes to have the little master in the squad in one of the most important home series in recent years. Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Ganguly hoped that Tendulkar would be fit to play in the series. "I am sure Tendulkar will be keen to play against Pakistan,'' he said. "I think it is too early to say whether he can play in the series. There is still a lot of time left. I hope he makes it,'' he said. Tendulkar has been laid low by `tennis elbow' and has been advised complete rest to allow the injury to heal. Recently he went on record saying he would play only if he was fully fit.
