GUWAHATI, JAN. 26. Violence rocked Assam and Manipur on Republic Day as militants triggered blasts at the Parade Ground here injuring two Government employees and seven at Jiribam in Manipur. A sub-inspector and a Government employee were injured when two programmed time delay devices went off at Judges Field, venue of the ceremonial parade at Guwahati. The first one went off at 8.47a.m. in a drain and the other at 9.05 a.m. The first blast occurred minutes after the Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, arrived at the Parade Ground and the second when the Governor, Lt. Gen. (retd.) Ajai Singh, was getting ready for inspecting the guard of honour. Two persons were injured when a bomb, suspected to have been planted by the ULFA, went off near the broad gauge railway yard at Bamunimaidan around 7.10 p.m. Yet another blast occurred at Bongaigaon town.
