RPF record in property recovery

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 26. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has set a record by achieving a recovery of 82 per cent of stolen property during 2004.

The RPF recovered property worth Rs.6.55 lakhs in the division, which is an all-time record. A total of 232 offenders, including 11 Railway employees and two RPF personnel, were arrested under various sections of the RPF Act.

The RPF work came under praise at the Republic Day celebrations held at the railway stadium. The Divisional Railway Manager, S.V. Arya, reviewed the guard of honour presented by three platoons of RPF, one platoon each of civil defence and Bharat Scouts and Guides.

The RPF Commandant and Divisional Security Commissioner, Munawar Khursheed, said that their force had been fighting relentlessly against crime pertaining to railway property as well as commuters.

He said that passenger assistance and facilitation booths had been opened at the railway stations in the city, at Vizianagaram and Rayagada.

``People should feel free to register their complaints at RPF assistance booth or ring up its control room (2842817 or 2842016,'' Mr. Khursheed said.
