Senate votes to confirm Rice

WASHINGTON, JAN. 26. The United States Senate today voted 85 to 13 to confirm Condoleezza Rice as the next Secretary of State.

Ms. Rice's confirmation was in no doubt but she got the most "no" votes for a Secretary of State since World War Two.
