BELLARY, JAN. 27. Fifteen convicts serving life sentence were released from the Central Jail here on Thursday for good behaviour on the occasion of the 56th Republic Day, which was observed on Wednesday. The convicts had completed over 10 years of their sentence. G. Karunakar Reddy, MP, urged the inmates who were released to lead a good life and strive for the welfare of society. G. Veerbhadraswamy, Jail Superintendent, said that the inmates had contributed a month's income towards the tsunami relief fund. K.A. Ramalingappa and Mrutyunjaya Jinaga, local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, were present.
