Letters to the Editor
Sir, The fact that India declined foreign aid for tsunami victims seems to have generated cynicism in sections of the Western media, which have termed India's efforts pathetic. The impression needs to be dispelled and this is where our media can play a role. Wide coverage should be given to relief and rehabilitation efforts. Stories of individuals and NGOs doing commendable work should be given due publicity. More importantly, our own media should refrain from criticising each and every aspect of relief.
S. Kamat,
Sir, Reconstruction work in the tsunami-affected areas has been relegated to the inside pages of newspapers. Follow-up stories should be given wide publicity so that the extent of relief operations done by the Governments and the NGOs are made known to the people.
N. Aravind Rajesh,
