HYDERABAD, JAN. 27. The Telugu Desam Party has alleged that the Government is trying to dilute the investigation into the murder of the Penukonda MLA, Paritala Ravi, and urged the Centre to take suo motu notice of the crime and initiate action. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the TDP leaders -- K. Yerran Naidu, MP, Y. Ramakrishnudu, S. Venugopala Chary and P. Chandrasekhar -- questioned the delay in police action in the murder case. "Why is the Chief Minister silent after he cited his son, a cabinet Minister and a police officer as being named in the First Information Report," they wondered. They took exception to the delay in arresting those included in the FIR.
`Diversionary tactics'
Mr. Yerran Naidu alleged that all those named in the FIR were addressing press conferences but police never tried to take them into custody. "By turning a blind eye, the Chief Minister is resorting to diversionary tactics to water down the case," the said. The Government was yet to write to the Centre to take up CBI probe even after four days of the murder, they lamented. "If necessary, the TDP will lead a delegation to the Centre and urge the President, Prime Minister and even the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to take note of the lawlessness in Andhra Pradesh," Mr. Ramakrishnudu added.
