PATHANAMTHITTA, JAN. 27. The SNDP Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan, has said that the developing ties between the SNDP and the NSS should not be taken as an indication of their desire to fight jointly for Parliament. Inaugurating the Micro Finance Scheme of the Yogam here this afternoon, Mr Natesan said that the decision to come closer was aimed at achieving social justice in a democratic society. Mr Natesan alleged that leaders like Veliyam Bhargvan, Pannyan Raveendran and K.Karunakaran have been criticising him as well as the NSS-SNDP tie-up.
Controversial letter
``However, these leaders have conveniently sidelined the controversial letter on minority rights written by Bishop Susapakiyam to the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, knowing well that any criticism against it would antagonise the minority community,'' he alleged. Mr. Natesan said that the NSS and SNDP would launch their Aswamedhom at the joint meeting to be held at Vaikom on January 29. The Travancore Devaswom Board member, M.B.Sreekumar, presided over the meeting.
