ALAPPUZHA, JAN. 27. A lottery ticket vendor attached to an agent of State Lotteries was found dead on the railway track near Karumady Government High School in Thakazhi on Wednesday night. Leaders of the Kerala State Lottery Sellers Union said Sasikumar (43), Thekke Kadath House, ward number 1, was suspected to have committed suicide as he could not find alternative means of livelihood following the State Government's decision to ban lotteries. Tension prevailed in Alappuzha on Thursday when lottery agents belonging to various organisations blocked the National Highway-47 demanding that the State Government bear the expenses of the funeral of the deceased. The Alappuzha RDO, K.G. Raju, and the Ambalappuzha tahsildar, Ravindran Adiyodi, held talks with the leaders of lottery agents' associations and assured them that the Government would provide assistance to the family of the deceased.
