Anees-Shanwar final

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 27. A.K. Anees (Alappuzha) will meet P.K. Shanwar (Ernakulam) in the men's singles final of the 20th State carrom championships at the Bank Employees Union hall.

In the semifinals here on Thursday, Anees overcame P.V. Munner (Kozhikode) 25-9, 19-25, 25-2, while Shanwar defeated Ramesan (Kozhikode) 25-15, 25-11.

Anjali (Thiruvananthapuram) will lock horns with Saradambal (Thiruvananthapruam) in the women's final. Anjali defeated M. Sudha (AG's Office) 25-7 25-21, while Saradambal got past V. Ajitha (SBT) 25-19, 25-17.

The results:

Men's singles (semifinals): A.K. Anees (Alp) bt P.V. Muneer (Kzde) 25-9, 19-25, 25-2; P.K. Shanwar (Ekm) bt Ramesan (Kzde) 25-15, 25-11.

Doubles (final): A.K. Anees & Ajayan (Alp) bt P.S. Manoj & Anandlal (AG's) 25-11, 25-11.

Women's singles (semifinals): Anjali (Tvm) bt M. Sudha (AG's) 25-7, 25-21; Saradambal (Tvm) bt V. Ajitha (SBT) 25-19, 25-17. Doubles (final): Saradambal & Swarnam (AG's) bt Anjali & Vijayalakshmi (Tvm) 25-17, 13-25, 25-8.
