Foggy morning, cloudy day
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Thursday were 22 degrees Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 6.4 degrees Celsius. While Safdarjung recorded a maximum and minimum relative humidity of 94 per cent and 45 per cent respectively, at Palam the maximum humidity was 97 per cent and the minimum was 44 per cent.
No details of `gunfire' case
It has now come to light that the incident occurred around 11-30 a.m. when an SPG personnel, S.P. Singh, while depositing his weapon in the armoury, `accidentally' pulled the trigger. The bullet hit another personnel, Surendra Vikram, in the hand. He was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital from where he was discharged after treatment. While the senior SPG officials have initiated an inquiry into the matter, they told the police that they would lodge a complaint only in the event of finding a valid reason to do so.
Held with stolen laptop
The accused, Manish Sharma and Vishal, were arrested near a petrol pump on Mall Road when they were found moving under suspicious condition with the laptop. During interrogation, they revealed that they had stolen it from the Delhi University area. The police said Manish was earlier arrested by the Maurice Nagar and Civil Lines police on similar charges.
Alleged drug peddler arrested
According to the police, they were conducting checks as part of security arrangement for Republic Day when they came across a young man going with a briefcase. The suspect tried to flee upon which the police overpowered him. They found 2 kg charas from the briefcase, after which the accused was arrested. During interrogation, he identified himself as Dashrath Singh, a resident of Gopal Ganj in Bihar. He revealed that he had bought the consignment from Nepal for Rs. 2,800 and was about to sell it for Rs. 10,000 per kg.
Van thief nabbed
The police received a complaint from Kewal Sharma alleging that his delivery van which was parked out the house of his driver, Ashok Kumar, on Tuesday. Investigations revealed that one Ramesh Chand had stolen the vehicle and was taking it to Uttar Pradesh when its fuel was exhausted at Gandhi Nagar. Afraid of getting caught, Ramesh abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene. At his instance, the police recovered the vehicle.
