By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JAN. 27. The Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, Yasmeen Sultana, has clarified that as per the service rules for the sports section, more than seniority it was `merit and ability' which counted for promotions. As such, three vacancies of Inspector of Games and Sports were filled.

Referring to the recent protest by the Municipal Karmika Sangham on the promotions cleared by the Standing Committee, she said the decision was taken as per the appropriate rules and Supreme Court directions.
