THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 28. The Chamber of Commerce here has expressed concern over the recent attacks on luxury hotels in the State capital. Addressing presspersons here today, the Chamber president, M.R. Narayanan, and representatives of various professional and industrial organisations said the spate of violent incidents against the burgeoning tourism industry would impede the economic development of the State and send out wrong signals to potential investors. Referring to the organised attack on a resort at Kovalam on Wednesday, they condemned the use of violence as a means to settle the dispute between the hotel and a section of the local residents.
Representatives of the Technopark Area Industries, Builders Association of India, Indian Association of Tour Operators, Small Scale Industries Association, Travel Agents Association and the Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association attended the press conference.
