This Day That Age
Martyrs Day, in remembrance of the sacrifice of the people who laid down their lives in the cause of India's freedom and synchronising with the seventh death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, was solemnly observed all over India on January 30. People in all walks of life observed two minutes' silence when the clock struck 11. The main point of observance was Mahatma Gandhi's Samadhi at Rajghat in New Delhi. One of the earliest visitors to the Samadhi was the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Mr. C. Rajagopalachari, the Vice-President, Dr.S. Radhakrishnan, the Chiefs of the Services, officials and a number of citizens were also there to pay homage.
