This Day That Age
The Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. T.T. Krishnamachari, has decided to leave the Cabinet and is likely to relinquish office after the Prime Minister's return from London, it is understood. He was reported to have made a request to be relieved in November last as he felt he could not function effectively with the responsibility of carrying out the Government's industrial policy spread over a plurality of Ministers. It was presumed he was persuaded to remain because a reorganisation of the Ministries was under contemplation. It now seems a decision has been reached not to undertake such a reorganisation at present. Mr. Krishnamachari's decision is a sequel to this.
