Letters to the Editor
Sir, It is heartening to note that there is a big possibility of the Andhra Pradesh Government recovering from the TDP the losses suffered by the RTC in the violence that followed Paritala Ravi's killing (Jan. 29). But such lofty ideals are preached by a party only when it is in power. When forced to sit in the Opposition benches, the same party ceases to be `responsible.'
J. Ravi,
Sir, The TDP cadre no doubt ran amuck. But the reaction of other political parties criticising the violence is like the pot calling the kettle black. They all seem to have forgotten the part played by them while in the Opposition. All the parties should voluntarily calculate the loss sustained by the nation by their riotous acts and pay up from their funds. I am sure no party will be prepared to do this. Unless we reject all the parties in the elections, we have no choice except to suffer them.
M.M. Kale,
Sir, During the violence following Ravi's murder, irate TDP mobs burnt buses and caused heavy destruction to public property. Could the party workers have resorted to such violence on their own without incitement and the tacit support of the party leaders? The sufferers are the common people who are left with fewer buses at the end of the day.
R.S.P.U. Tirumala,
