MADIKERI, JAN. 30. An all-religion prayer meeting marked Sarvodaya Day to commemorate the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, here on Sunday. Schoolchildren participated in large numbers in the prayer meeting.

However, unexpected showers in the morning came as a dampener, owing to which the presentation of the guard of honour was delayed. The Deputy Commissioner, Srikant Valagad; the Chief Executive Officer of the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat, P.L. Budihal; the Superintendent of Police, Devajyoti Ray; the president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat district unit, T.P. Ramesh; the Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, Subramanya; the Assistant Commissioner, Nagaraj; and the Madikeri Tahsildar, R.G. Palkar, participated in the prayer meeting.
