NEW DELHI, JAN. 30. Noted Hindi litterateur Vishnu Prabhakar today decided not to return his Padma Bhushan award following a meeting with the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. ``I have agreed to the President's request not to return the award. The President is a simple person and serious about promoting Hindi literature,'' said the 93-year-old novelist, who was nursing a grudge against security personnel who did not allow his son to attend a Republic Day function at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Mr. Kalam had invited the novelist to get a first hand account of his grievances after he made known his intention to return the award he received last year. Dr. Prabhakar was accompanied by his son today. The President took the writer for a walk in the Mughal Gardens during which he was persuaded not to return the award. The Rashtrapati Bhavan will conduct an inquiry into the writer's complaints. UNI
