BANGALORE, JAN. 30. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President, B. Janardhana Poojary, and leaders of other political parties today paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his death anniversary, observed as Sarvodaya Day. Mr. Singh and the Minister for Water Resources and Transport, Mallikarjun Kharge, garlanded the portrait of the Mahatama Gandhi at Vidhana Soudha while the KPCC President and Congress leaders paid tributes Gandhiji at the Congress Bhavan here. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Poojary called upon the party workers to support the Congress-backed candidates in the coming elections to gram panchayats in the State.
In the Janata Dal (Secular) office, the party city unit President, Srikantamurthy, garlanded a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. Leaders of the Janata Dal (United) also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at their office in Gandhinagar.
