Cuddapah
By Our Staff Reporter
CUDDAPAH, JAN. 30. The Vysya community believes in non-violence, but not in timidity, asserted the Minister for Finance, K. Rosaiah, on Sunday. Speaking after unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi statue on Gandhi road in Proddatur town on Gandhiji's death anniversary, he observed that Vysyas expressed pride that the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and Potti Sriramulu, whose fast ensured formation of the State, belonged to the community, but were not following their principles. Describing Gandhiji as a `God' in human form, he called for the need to spread Gandhian principles among youth. He hoped the statue, organised by Cuddapah District Arya Vysya Sangham, Proddatur Arya Vysya Sabha and Vasavi Club, would inspire the people on his simple living and sacrifices. The proddatur MLA, N. Varadarajulu Reddy, wanted younger generations enlightened on Gandiji's lifestyle and sacrifices. The Arya Vysya Sangham State President, P. Srinivasulu Setty, lamented that Vysyas were committed to service activities, but neglected while giving posts. The Cuddapah MP, Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, the Joint Collector, Kanthilal Dande, the in-charge Proddatur Municipal Chairman, R. Prasada Reddy, the Proddatur sabha president, Ramamohana Rao, participated.
