Kurnool
By Our Staff Reporter
KURNOOL, JAN. 30. The President of Forum of Social and Human Rights, Andhra Pradesh, P. Pulla Rao, has represented to the Archaeological Survey of India to take measures to preserve the Sangameswara temple at the confluence of the Krishna and Bhavanasi in the foreshore of Srisailam reservoir in Kurnool district. In a statement, Dr. Pulla Rao said the Sangameswara temple, was the first symbol of Andhra heritage. The temple was submerged many years ago when the country was not conscious of preserving heritage. Only experts could give an idea how to save the temple now. He said the issue would be represented to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, also. Dr. Pulla Rao said there was nothing great about boasting of our civilisation but sincere efforts should be made to preserve the symbols of the past. The future generations would appreciate if the temple was saved. Describing it as treasure of Kurnool, he said history wipes out the names of people after some time but the architecture will remain forever.
