TUMKUR, JAN. 30. Seven persons, including a woman, were killed and four injured when a van and a Karantaka State Road Transport Corporation bus collided at Arena Halli Gate, near Kondli Cross, on Bangalore-Honnavar National Highway No. 206, 41 km. to the west of Tumkur today. The van was returning to Bangalore and the bus was going to Bhatkal from Bangalore. G.B. Manjunath, Inspector of Police, Gubbi Circle, told The Hindu that the van had picked up passengers on its way to Bangalore. Four of them were killed on the spot while a woman and a man died in Medical College Hospital at Agalakote on the outskirts of Tumkur. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tiptur, H.R. Mahadevaiah, said the four injured, have been referred to a Bangalore hospital. The KSRTC bus has been detained and all its passengers were accommodated in other buses.
