MANGALORE, JAN. 30. The eleventh Bantwal Taluk Sahitya Sammelana will be held on Saturday. Theatre personality Amshumali will preside over the inaugural function. S. Ramakrishna, president of the reception committee, told presspersons here on Saturday that Na. Damodar Shetty, writer, will inaugurate the sammelana at the Pangalpadi Vishnumurthy Temple. The President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Chandrashekara Patil, will release 11 Kannada books, he added.
Felicitation
Eleven persons, who have made contribution to different fields, will be felicitated, he said. They include Savitha S. Bhat Advayi (literature); K. Shankara Shetty (art); Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty (Yakshagana); K. Shankar Bhat (education); Ammu Rai Harkadi (social service); Vedavyasa Prabhu (industry); Devaki Moorje (traditional medicine); Devu Parava (folklore); Punchodi Babu Shettigar (Bhajan); Ratna K. Bhat (Yakshagana) and P.K. Tailor Punjalkatte (theatre).
Poets' meet
A poets' meet will also be held on the occasion. Besides, sessions will also be held on commercial crops in the district, dairy farming, theatre, folklore and Yakshagana, he added. Mr. Ramakrishna said a book exhibition will also be held on the occasion. A procession will be taken out from Government First Grade College, Vamanjur, and cover Bastikodi, Aladapadavu before reaching the venue.
