Stop encouraging faction leaders: CPI

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, JAN. 30. The State secretariat member of the CPI and former legislator, K. Ramakrishna, has alleged that both the TDP and the Congress have been trying to utilise the issue of Paritala Ravindra's murder for their political mileage.

Talking to newspersons at Guntakal on Sunday, he said the reason behind the TDP's demand, particularly by its president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, for resignation of the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was to get political mileage. Similarly, several CLP leaders and the APCC president, K. Keshava Rao, were also trying to justify the murder by talking about the criminal record of Paritala. Mr. Ramakrishna alleged that both the Congress and the TDP were encouraging factional feuds. He appealed to both parties to take Paritala's murder as a lesson. He also asked the State Government to implement the recommendations made by the House Committee headed by G.S.S. Sivaji on preventing factional feuds.

Appeal to parties

The CPI leader also suggested to the TDP and the Congress not to give party ticket to the family members of Paritala and Suri or other families with factionalism links for the Penukonda Assembly by-election.

He stated that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had tried to discourage factionalism to some extent by denying the ministerial berth for Paritala. But his dependency on Paritala during elections and after had deflated his earlier effort. He also blamed the Congress for fielding G. Bhanumati, wife of Suri, in the last Assembly polls.
