Vasudeva Das in good touch

CHENNAI, JAN. 30. Left-hander K. Shree Vasudeva Das's 123 (168b, 20x4) ensured a 115-run lead for Tamil Nadu against Kerala on the second day of the third round matches of the P. Ramachandra Rao under-22 tournament (South Zone) here on Sunday.

Opener Anirudh Srikkanth (57, 77b, 8x4) and wicket-keeper batsman Petson Mathews (74, 119b, 10x4) were the other contributors as Tamil Nadu reached 315 in reply to Kerala's 200. Vasudeva Das and Mathews added 123 crucial runs for the sixth wicket. Kerala was 51 for two in its second innings.

Hyderabad was well served by Abhinav Kumar (66, 112b, 8x4), Anup Pai (89, 133b, 9x4), and P.S. Niranjan (77, 102b, 9x4, 1x6) as it declared at 341 for nine, a lead of 201 over Goa. The latter was staring at defeat, reaching 88 for four at close. Hyderabad left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha claimed three for 12 to add to his five-wicket haul in the first innings.

Shiekh Khaja Moinuddin (70 batting, 200b, 8x4, 1x6) and Y. Gyaneswara Rao (54, 98b, 7x4) raised 92 for the third wicket as Andhra made 197 for three at stumps, chasing Karnataka's 310. Earlier, Andhra off-spinner T. Koteswara Rao bagged five for 75 and left-arm spinner Lakshman Kishore four for 79.

Karnataka 310 in 107.1 overs (Bharat Chipli 69, H.T. Sudhir Rao 43, Deepak Chowgule 69, Vinayak Uthappa 52, Lakshman Kishore four for 79, T. Koteswara Rao five for 75) vs Andhra 197 for three in 79 overs (Shiekh Khaja Moinuddin 70 batting, Gyaneswara Rao 54), at SRMC.
