GUNTUR, JAN. 30. The Minister for Cooperation, Kanna Lakshmi Narayna, has called upon the print and electronic media to highlight the ills in society. Speaking at the 28th general body meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) on Sunday, he, however, asked the journalists at the meeting to strike a balance between negative and positive reporting. While highlighting failures of the Government, the media should provide adequate publicity to the good schemes and he development achieved. Competition among media institutions should not lead to publishing or telecasting of news that was not beneficial to society at large. The Superintendent of Police, Jitender, asked reporters to feel free to contact any Government official or others before they published news about them so that factual errors were not there and the other version of the story too also highlighted.
