MANGALORE, JAN. 30. The Mayor, Purandaradasa Kuloor, and officials of the Standing Committee on Health of the Mangalore City Corporation inspected some construction sites here on Saturday to ensure that there is no water logging, which aids the breeding of mosquitoes. The visit followed complaints that water logging at many construction sites have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The team found that many construction sites at Mannagudde and Bendur areas were inundated. The Mayor took the builders to task for not taking steps to drain the water. He said the corporation, on several occasions, has directed builders to take measures to prevent water logging. But some builders have not heeded the directions. Mr. Kuloor directed the officials concerned to issue notices to erring builders. He asked the officials to initiate steps to stop the construction work if builders do not pay the fine.
