Painting exhibition marks Martyrs' Day

UDUPI, JAN. 30. "Gandhi Smriti" was observed here on Sunday to mark Martyrs' Day. It was organised by Sauharda Vedike, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College, and the Drishya Schools of Arts.

A painting exhibition focussing on the life and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi was also held on the occasion. Students of Drishya School of Arts participated in the exhibition. Cartoonist P. Mohammad gave away certificates to the participants. A painting competition on Mahatma Gandhi was held for college students in the afternoon.

The results of the competition are as follows: Shweta D. Seth of T.M.A. Pai English Medium High School (first place), Pushparaj of Poornaprajna College (second place), Sunil K.V. of Kasturba Medical College (third place), Aparna H. Gudigar of MGM College and Yashaswini of Vaikunta Baliga College of Law (consolation prizes). Artist Subraya Shastri donated an oil painting of Mahatma Gandhi to the college.
