Drop in humidity

The Gannavaram Airport recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5 degree Celsius and a minimum of 19.5 degree Celsius, on Sunday. Humidity dropped from 87 per cent in the morning to 63 per cent in the evening.

Tributes paid

to Mahatma

Leaders of the City Congress Committee on Sunday paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 57th death anniversary.

The leaders called on the youth to emulate the path of non-violence shown by Gandhi. Earlier, the committee president, Kadiyala Butchibabu, and the general secretary, K. Gangadhara Rao, garlanded a portrait of the Mahatma.

Talent test

The annual State-level commerce talent test conduced by Superwhizz, Vijayawada, on Sunday drew good response. Pramod Kumar Agarwal of Hyderabad bagged the first prize at the intermediate-level. He was given a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, a gold medal and a certificate. The second prize went to P. Narayana Murthy of Visakhapatnam and the third to Rajesh Kumar Jain of Rajahmundry. They were given silver medals and certificates.

Indoor cricket

The Indian Indoor Cricket Federation will organise the fifth senior national indoor cricket championship, scheduled to be held at Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, from February 11 to 13. The Andhra Pradesh Indoor Cricket Association coach, D. Udaykiran, said interested players between 16 and 33 years of age should submit their date of birth certificate and get their names registered before February 3.
