Weird traffic regulation Sir, - The new traffic regulation introduced at Churakattupalayam Junction prohibiting entry to Chalai from this point to vehicles coming from Thampanoor and Vazhuthacaud is causing immense hardship to people. One wonders as to what purpose this regulation is going to serve other than putting people to lot of hardship and affecting business at this end of Chalai. Under the new regulation, motorists from Thampanoor and Vazhuthacaud should go to Killipalam Junction before turning to Chalai. However, motorists now circumvent this rule by turning round at midpoint. This is going to result in a lot of accidents in this heavy-traffic section. The practice of vehicle from Thamapnoor and Vazhuthacaud entering Chalai at this point has been on for a long time and no problem had ever been reported. Under these circumstances, it is quite difficult to comprehend the reason for this new rule. There is a professional college and numerous other business establishments and institutions in this locality. For the employees and students, the new traffic regulation has brought in unwanted additional fuel expenses, as they have to travel an extra kilometre to reach their destination. The authorities concerned should reconsider this regulation. Antony D. Mundackal, Aryasala. Exposed gutters Sir, - Ambujavilasam Road which connects GPO Junction at Pulimood and the old GPO Junction at Vanchiyoor is a narrow road which experiences heavy traffic from dawn to dusk on all working days. There are deep gutters on both sides of the road. As the gutter is not fully covered, pedestrians and two-wheeler riders find it very difficult to pass through this road. Authorities concerned should initiate steps to cover the gutter with slabs, as there is no footpath on this road. Karamana Manikantan Nayar, Vanchiyoor. Dusty problem Sir, - Gandhari Amman Coil Road in the city has been immersed in dust for the last six months. There seems to no end to the digging and filling up of the road. The Kerala Water Authority had dug up the road for laying pipelines and now the road remains covered in dust, causing serious health hazards to the public. The local people and the shopkeepers run for cover when vehicles through the road kicking up dust. Work on this road has been progressing at a snail's speed in spite of it being dotted with number of educational institutions, offices, hotels and shop. G. Muraleedharan, Vattiyoorkavu.
