BANGALORE, JAN. 30. The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has asked the advertising agencies registered with it to comply with the licence conditions. A press release issued here said the BMP has directed the agencies to use Kannada in the advertisement matter. This is in the wake of the Mayor, R. Narayanaswamy's direction to the BMP Commissioner, K. Jothiramalingam, to get the hoardings that are not in Kannada removed in 20 days. While scrapping the four-year-old Pay and Park Scheme on Saturday, the Mayor directed the Commissioner to take steps to remove illegal hoardings and issue new permits. This is one of the ways to make good the loss to be incurred after the scheme is abandoned, he said. Now, the BMP has directed the advertising agencies to adhere to the size and height regulations of the advertisement bylaws. According to the rules, hoardings should be of 12 ft. X 24 ft. with a maximum height of 30 ft. The BMP has asked the agencies to display permission details in Kannada and English on each hoarding. The agencies have been instructed to modify the hoardings according to these conditions and submit a list of such hoardings to the BMP's Advertisement Section in 15 days.
