Motorcyclist waylaid, robbed of cash, gold chain

BANGALORE, JAN. 30. A motorcyclist, Chamundi, was waylaid and assaulted before being robbed of Rs. 4,000 in cash, a gold chain and a ring, a wrist watch and mobile phone, in all valued at about Rs. 30,000, in the K.P. Agrahara Police Station limits on Saturday.

The police said Chamundi was riding a motorcycle near a railway track at about 7.30 p.m. when the crime occurred.

Investigation is on.

Assaulted

An autorickshaw driver, Manju (22), was attacked with lethal weapons by a four-member gang in the Kempapura Agrahara Police Station limits on Saturday.

The four accused were reportedly in an inebriated state.

Manju was shifted to NIMHANS with severe head injuries.

The K.P. Agrahara Police have registered a case.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), K.V. Sharathchandra, visited the spot.

Arrested

The City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested three persons, Janakiram (49), Thambidorai (28) and Babu (40), on the charge of gambling with lottery tickets in the Commercial Street Police Station limits on Saturday.

According to the police, the accused persons were gambling in the guise of selling lottery tickets on B.P.H. Road Cross.

The police confiscated lottery tickets and Rs. 8,165 in cash from the accused persons.

Arrested

In a similar incident, the CCB arrested Ganesh (31), who allegedly gambled on the pretext of selling lottery tickets in Rajajinagar 4th Block on Saturday.

The police seized Rs. 1,830 in cash and other articles from his possession.

Held

The CCB also arrested Raghavendra (23) accused of a similar offence and confiscated Rs. 2,190 in cash and other articles from him.

Arrested

The Banashankari Police on Saturday arrested Jayakrishna (27), Vijay (30) and Manju (23) in connection with the murder of Dinesh.

Dinesh was allegedly bludgeoned to death near the BDA Complex in Banashankari on January 16.

Dinesh, who had suffered severe head injuries in the attack, died at NIMHANS.

Remanded

The Ulsoor Police arrested Gunashekhar (28), K. Kodanda (29), Akhilan (29), Meesey Babu (38), John (24), Murali (21), Rafiq (20), Suman (24), Srinivas (22), Sapu (29) and Sharavana (28) in connection with the murder of Raja, a resident of Dickenson Road, on January 25. They have been remanded to judicial custody.

Seized

The City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested Ilyas alias Acid Ilyas (49) of Nandidurg Road, J.C. Nagar, for allegedly peddling brown sugar in the J.C. Nagar Police Station limits on Saturday. The police seized 10 grams of brown sugar and Rs. 300 in cash from him.

Recovered

The D.J. Halli Police arrested Rizwan Khan (22) and recovered an autorickshaw, four two-wheelers and a car stereo, in all valued at Rs. 2 lakhs.

The vehicles and stereo were allegedly stolen from the D.J. Halli Police Station limits.

He was produced before the 11th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate who remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
