The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday were 20.7 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively. Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 20.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 8.6 degrees Celsius. Both Safdarjung and Palam recorded the maximum relative humidity of 92 per cent while minimum relative humidity at the two places was 52 per cent and 54 per cent respectively.
Alleged dowry death
According to reports, Gulera Zaheera (20), who was married to Mohammed Aslam (23) last year, was found dead at her Jagjit Nagar residence in Usmanpur area of North-East Delhi. She had consumed some drug in access that led to her demise. Keeping in mind that the marriage was not seven years old, a magisterial inquiry was instituted into the incident. During the investigation, Gulera Zaheera's family members alleged that she was being tortured by her husband for dowry, acting on which police arrested Aslam. Further investigations were on.
Bootlegger nabbed
The police received a tip-off that Randhir Singh, a resident of Indira Basti jhuggi cluster, used to stock liquor in his house for illegal sale. Subsequently, they mounted a raid and arrested him after seizure of the liquor consignment. While he has been booked under the Excise Act, the police are trying to track down the supplier.

New IGNOU courses
The diploma course in disaster management is among a string of new courses being introduced by the university. According IGNOU Pro-Vice chancellor S.C. Garg, the university will launch Masters Degree courses in dietetics and food service management. IGNOU will also offer post-graduate level courses in rural development, sociology, economics, public administration and bio-informatics, he said while inaugurating the nationwide induction programme for the January 2005 batch students through teleconferencing. Other new courses include certificate courses in aquaculture, agricultural policy, community cardiology, medical waste management and women empowerment. The university also plans to develop skills and competencies of marginalised groups through courses in construction, shoe-making and motor repairing, Prof. Garg said.
