Shooting
HYDERABAD, JAN. 31 . Hyderabad's Amit Sanghi has been selected to represent the country in the Commonwealth Shooting Championships at Melbourne, Australia, from March 9 to 20. A skeet shooter, he was picked on the basis of his performances in the National championships at Delhi, the Sardar Sajjan Singh Sethi memorial master meet at Hyderabad recently and two trials that concluded in Delhi last week. Sanghi tallied 343/375 and was followed by Amardeep Singh Rai (341/375) and Baba P.S. Bedi (338/375). Amit's rise since his first major event, the Nationals at Hyderabad in December 2003, has been rapid. He has also taken part in the Cyprus Grand Prix, the ISSF World Cup at Cairo, the Asian clay pigeon shooting championship and Singapore shooting festival. He cracked the Olympic minimum qualifying score (MQS) of 114 by scoring 115/125 at the Asian Clay Pigeon Shooting championship at Bangkok in July last year. Other shooters from the state for the Commonwealth Championships are Olympians Gagan Narang and Mansher Singh.
