ONGOLE, JAN 31. Sixty TDP leaders, including the Polit Bureau member and Addanki MLA, Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy, the ZP chairman, Mukku Kasi Reddy, the Ongole municipal chairman, Y. Tulasi Rao, and the district secretary, P. David Raju, surrendered before the second Munisif Magistrate who granted them conditional bail here on Monday. The police registered two cases against them for allegedly damaging windshields of RTC buses and locking up telephone office here on December 25 when they organised a bandh to protest against the murder of Paritala Ravi in Anantapur. The bail was granted on condition that they should appear in the I Town police station every Wednesday. The released leaders took out a procession from the court to the TDP office. They raised slogans against the DSP, Ch. Chakrapani, and accused him of acting as a Congress agent.
Mayor arrested
RAJAHMUNDRY: Several TDP members, including the Mayor of Rajahmundry, M.S. Chakravarthy, were on Monday arrested in the district in connection with cases of damage to public property registered by the police during the bandh. According to the police, while 38 arrests were made in three police stations of Rajahmundry, 37 TDP functionaries were taken into custody at Samalkot, and eight at Rangampeta.
