Vijayawada
By Our Special Correspondent
VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 31. Asserting that the Government was committed to filling the posts reserved for the handicapped, the Vikalangula (Handicapped) Cooperative Corporation Chairman, B. Judson, has said that legal action will be initiated against those who make appointments in violation of the existing rules. In an informal chat with reporters here on Monday, Mr. Judson said in addition to filling the existing backlog vacancies for the handicapped, the Government was organising programmes aimed at developing their skills and enabling them to take up self-employment schemes. Keeping in view the talent being exhibited by the handicapped, the Government was also working out modalities for implementation of rule of reservation for them in the private sector.
Help to jobless
Expressing concern that more than 520 handicapped persons were left jobless after the tsunami, he said the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation had come forward to extend assistance to them.
