Rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI FEB. 1. Rainfall occurred at many places over Telangana and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over coastal and north interior Karnataka. The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres: Periyakulam (Theni dt.) 13, Bhavani (Erode dt.) 11, Tuticorin and Tiruchendur (Tuticorin dt.) 8 each.

The minimum temperature fell markedly at a few places over Telangana, fell appreciably at one or two places over north interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, fell at one or two places over south interior Karnataka, Kerala and changed little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably below normal at a few places over Telangana, at one or two places over interior Karnataka, appreciably above normal at a few places over Tamil Nadu, at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, rest south interior Karnataka, above normal at a few places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, over rest Tamil Nadu and were generally normal over the rest of the region.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over coastal and north interior Karnataka.
