NEW DELHI, FEB. 1. The Planning Commission has finalised the Annual Plan of Punjab for 2005-06 at Rs. 3,550 crore. The State's Plan was approved at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh, here on Tuesday. The Rs. 3,550-crore Plan outlay, according to an official statement here, includes a sum of Rs. 50 crore extended to the State as additional Central assistance for its priority schemes and projects. At the meeting, while complimenting the State for maintaining "good social indicators" despite long periods of disturbance, Dr. Ahluwalia drew the Chief Minister's attention to the declining contribution of the farm sector to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), especially when it had the potential to become a role model of development for the country.
